Little Rock, Ark. — Nov. 6, 2013 — Michael Henderson, senior vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) for Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation (AECC) and Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (AECI), was named CFO of the Year by Arkansas Business in the Large Private Company category earlier today.
A 29-year veteran of the electric cooperative program, Henderson has served as vice president and chief financial officer for AECC and AECI since April 2002.
“Michael is greatly respected in the electric cooperative movement for his vision, knowledge, work ethic and integrity,” said Duane Highley, president and CEO of AECC/AECI. “His critical leadership skills have resulted in strong financial positions for both AECC and AECI. It is an honor for an Arkansas-based group to recognize his accomplishments.”
Prior to his present position, he served as manager of treasury for AECC. Before joining the cooperatives, he worked for Associated Natural Gas Company and the Arkansas Public Service Commission.
Henderson has a bachelor’s of science degree in accounting from Arkansas State University and an advanced management degree from Duke University. He is both a Certified Public Accountant and a Registered Investment Advisor.
The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas comprise 17 electric distribution cooperatives; Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (AECI), a Little Rock-based cooperative that provides services to the distribution cooperatives; and Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corp. (AECC), a generation and transmission cooperative. The distribution cooperatives provide electricity to approximately 500,000 homes, farms and businesses in Arkansas and surrounding states.
