Little Rock, Ark. — Aug. 28, 2019 — Robert Smith of Bryant has been named director of engineering for Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation (AECC).

Smith has been with AECC for more than eight years in roles pertaining to the maintenance and operations of the cooperative’s wholly-owned power generation facilities. Prior to joining AECC, he worked in mechanical engineering roles for 10 years.

Smith earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Arkansas State University in 1999 and is pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Central Arkansas. He is a registered professional engineer.

Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation (AECC), a generation and transmission cooperative, provides wholesale power to 17 local distribution cooperatives. The 17 cooperatives provide electricity to approximately 500,000 members, or customers, in Arkansas and surrounding states. AECC’s generation portfolio consists of approximately 4,280 megawatts of diverse generation resources, including coal, natural gas, hydropower, wind, solar and geothermal.
